Do view counts use cookies or send data anywhere?
No, and no. Everything stays on your own site.
- No cookies are set for counting.
- No external service is contacted — nothing leaves your server.
- No visitor records are stored. There’s no log of who read what, only a running total per question.
- Repeat views from the same visitor within an hour count once, using a short-lived salted hash that expires by itself. Raw IP addresses are never stored.
- Known crawlers and bots are excluded, so the numbers reflect people.
Because nothing personal is stored and no cookies are set, view counting doesn’t require a cookie consent banner.
